Installation
Pick the install path that suits your platform. All methods produce the same redmine binary.
Install
Section titled “Install”For macOS and Linux. Ships shell completions for bash, zsh, and fish.
brew tap aarondpn/tapbrew install redmineAuto-detects OS and architecture, verifies the SHA256 checksum, installs to ~/.local/bin.
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aarondpn/redmine-cli/main/install.sh | bashThe checksum check always runs and a mismatch always aborts. Whether the script also checks the release’s build provenance depends on the GitHub CLI:
- Attestation verified. If
ghis installed, recent enough (gh attestation verifywith--signer-workflowand--source-ref; any current release qualifies) and logged in (gh auth login, orGH_TOKEN/GITHUB_TOKENset), the script runsgh attestation verifyon the archive and refuses to install if the build provenance does not check out. - Checksum only. If
ghis missing, too old, or not logged in, the script installs after the checksum check alone. It prints a warning naming the reason and thegh attestation verifycommand to check the release yourself.
If gh cannot complete the check because of your environment (a proxy that blocks Sigstore, or gh logged in to GitHub Enterprise Server only), set REDMINE_CLI_SKIP_ATTESTATION=1 to install with checksum verification only. The script prints a warning and the command to verify the release yourself. As with redmine update --skip-attestation, the checksums come from the same place as the archive, so a tampered release would not be detected; never use it to get past an attestation that is actually invalid.
To install a specific release instead of the latest, set REDMINE_CLI_VERSION and fetch the script from that same tag:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aarondpn/redmine-cli/<tag>/install.sh | REDMINE_CLI_VERSION=<tag> bashThe install.sh of releases up to v2.14.1 ignores REDMINE_CLI_VERSION and installs the latest release; to pin one of those, fetch the script from main instead.
Attestations exist only for v2.11.2 and later. Pinning an older release with a logged-in gh fails attestation verification and the script refuses to install; set REDMINE_CLI_SKIP_ATTESTATION=1 as well to install it with checksum verification only.
Builds from source via the Go toolchain. Requires Go 1.26 or later (the go directive in go.mod); with the default GOTOOLCHAIN=auto, an older Go 1.21+ downloads a suitable toolchain itself. Release binaries are built with Go 1.27.3.
go install github.com/aarondpn/redmine-cli/v2/cmd/redmine@latestGrab a prebuilt release for your platform.

Verify
Section titled “Verify”-
Confirm the binary is resolvable and prints its version:
Terminal window redmine --version -
Run the built-in health check to smoke-test the install:
Terminal window redmine --help -
Continue to Configuration to wire up your Redmine server.
Update
Section titled “Update”redmine updatePulls the latest release, verifies its SHA256 checksum and its GitHub artifact attestation, then replaces the running binary. See Self-Update for details and flags.
